Question No. 4
Technology
is making communication easier in today’s world, but at the expense of personal
contact as many people choose to work at home in front of a computer
screen. What dangers are there for a
society which depends on computer screens rather than face-to-face contact for
its means of communication?
Answer:
Technology and working in front of a computer is an
incredible inspiration. Technology is determined to make our lives easier. This
is an amazing revolution in human's way of communicating. At the present time,
communication has become less complicated because of technological enlargement.
Especially the personal interaction is influenced
because many internet subscribers wish to stay at home and use their computers
as a way to communicate. We sometimes feel like throwing our computers out the
window or going on vacation. Ultimately technology gives us a wealth of
opportunities to have more comfortable. But there are also effects about this
like compromise in human’s health and less attachment with other human beings.
Some contemporary technologies that make life easier
are household appliances such as washing machine, dishwasher etc. These make
household tasks less inconvenient. Computers and mobile phones make
communication between distance areas very easily reachable. Now we have urban
transportation which makes traveling faster and easier with less traffic.
People who are facing computers at work in home have
risks in their health by being not moving from there. These people sit most of
the time while they are working. They no longer have to move around like to
walk, talk, dress-up and go up-and down the stairs or do other things
physically. As a result this might cause them to be overweight, fat and other
illnesses might activate. Lack of exercise can cause heart disease and staying
long in front of the computer can cause eye damage.
Furthermore people who spend time with technology
can drop personal attachments with other people like their family, relations
and friends. Because they use computers as a tool for communication via instant
messaging services like Skype and Email services. They do not have liked to
personally interact with other human beings and their bonding with others may
depreciate. Working in front of a computer is although a fantastic idea on the
opposing side internet users must be aware of dangerous consequences and that
could affect their health and attachment with other humans.
Besides that, another danger which will be faced by
the community when they depend on the computer screens rather than face-to-face
contact as a mean of communication is that they might be involved in serious
cases such as being cheated by the unknown people that they met through social
network system such as Face book, Twitter and so on. With rapid development in
the world of technology, people are easily deceived by the irresponsible people
through the means of social networking system. There are many issues regarding
people who have been cheated by someone they know through social media such as
Facebook and Twitter. Normally, they are cheated for money and this happens
mostly towards the women. The man that a woman knows through the social media
will use sweet but fake words in order to win the woman’s heart for some bad
intention such as for money.
All in all, there are many risks will be faced when
one decides to depend on computer screens rather than face-to-face contact for
its means of communication. If this means is chosen, an individual should first
get ready with the outcome for their choice.

Question No.6
Why is community service important in today’s world ?
Answer :
Community service has been a forever, long service
done through giving people of communities in the effort to bring up their
neighbourhood. These selfless acts of kindness have been passed through the
generations with the same undertones. As volunteering services have grown
through the times, there are now more available means of community services for
people to involve themselves with. Those who taken on community service
projects have greatly benefited from their work, gaining memorable experiences,
and building unique character traits.
For those who are unfamiliar with volunteering, the
thought of commitment comes to mind. The commitment that is made to
volunteering is slightly different, for in most volunteering situations, you
create as much of a commitment as you want. People have the option to volunteer
as much of their own time as they are willing, still allowing them to remain
focused on their school, work, and personal lives. As there are some services
that do ask for a longer time commitment, you still are able to give as much
time for a certain project as you want.
Students are always encouraged to volunteer for not
only the experience and character building, but also for applying for colleges.
The admission levels for universities is becoming more competitive, asking for
more out incoming students. One major tool that has been helpful to setting
themselves apart from most of their peers is their volunteering services. It is
recommended that students volunteer in subjects and projects that they have an
interest in, so that this way, it promotes their efforts within the
volunteering community. Students have volunteered at soup kitchens, museums,
elderly homes, and at school projects. What the students put into their
volunteering experiences will show immensely in their character. As these
experiences are pointed out on their applications, students have heard more
acceptances than rejections.
Through volunteering, people who need an outlet for
their character trait of being kind and selfless, have been able to receive
that satisfaction. People have sometimes toiled with the notion of wanting to
find some way to give back to their community, and help those that cannot help
themselves. Those in this situation have been able to volunteer at soup kitchens
and have discussions with people they serve, brightening up their day and
making them smile. Others have gone to hospitals and aided with the elderly,
having conversation with them and listening to stories of a time long ago,
gaining wisdom. The elderly in this situation are always more than thankful for
someone to have a conversation with someone and being listened to, especially
if you are someone who enjoys playing a game of chess! In the same scene,
volunteers are also able to work with children, playing games with them,
reading and painting with them. Again, putting a smile on their face is all the
payment a volunteer needs to make them feel grateful for doing this type of
service.
Many people who have volunteered gain a type of
growth that some can not get anywhere else. Volunteers are given the
opportunity to see this life from a variety of different angles, giving them,
at the end of the day, a sense of humility for their own lives. When a person
volunteers, they are able to give as much of their time as they want, making
the commitment their own. One of the easiest things about volunteering is
getting involved. There are countless organizations and charities that are
always looking for an extra hand to put a smile on someone's face. With all the
opportunities available to volunteer, a person can find their way into
something that could change not just their life, but also the life of another.

Question No. 7
Tourism is becoming increasingly important as a
source of revenue for many countries but its disadvantages should not be
overlooked. What are some of the
disadvantages of tourism?
Answer :
The rapid development of tourism nowadays is
actually a strategy to promote a region’s economy or even the world’s economy.
Each country has its own strategy in order to increase the number of tourists
coming to the country. Most of the tourist will normally select a destination
that promotes them variety of interesting places to go, activities to be
carried out during the vacation and other attractive packages provided.
However, despite the advantages that are gained from the tourism, there are
also some disadvantages of tourism that cannot be overlooked.
Firstly, development of tourism means that the
number of tourists will also increase. More tourists will result in other
aspects such as the need to build more comfortable accommodation, new roads,
parking lots, hotels, restaurant and other infrastructure will actually quite
costly during and after the construction. Improvement is needed in all aspect
of infrastructure in order to attract more tourists to the country. Lacking in
terms of the infrastructure will affect the development of tourism. Not only
that, employment will be increased too due to the rapid construction of the infrastructure.
Besides that, another disadvantage of tourism is
that foreigners who come to the country might misuse the tourist passport that
they have for other intentions. Some of the tourists have misused their student
passport to work in the country which is actually not permitted and can be
charged by the court. These kinds of tourists will also create crime cases
involving drugs and dangerous weapons. They will also involve in the
development of illegal and/or destructive economic activities such as markets
for drugs, endangered species and so on.
Another disadvantage of tourism is in term of
cultural destruction due to modernization. The negative effects that the
foreigners will probably bring in to the country are like the language,
religion, rituals and material culture.
The Asian people are normally related to the politeness especially in
the way they dress, talk and action. Some tourists may bring about negative
influence such as in term of the dressing which is not suitable with the local
trend.
With rapid development of tourism, it will also
means rapid of outside hiring. Skilled middle and senior management will be
recruited out of the area and transferred in the country for the purpose of job
employment. More outside workers will be imported in and this will result in
the increased number of foreign workers. Job vacancy is widely open to the
outside worker even though they are still a lot of local people with no
job. This is definitely not a good view
for the country to have more outside workers than the local workers.
In the nutshell, every development that a country
possesses has its own pros and cons. The government has to take quick action to
reduce negative effects of tourism towards its country. Illegal activities
should first be looked over very seriously so that the country will remain in
peace and harmony. Besides, in order to preserve the nature, government should
not promote activities that can deteriorate the environment.
